Why Most Dentists Struggle to Grow and What to Do About It

Why Most Dentists Struggle to Grow and What to Do About It

Wednesday, August 20, 2025

Only one dentist in Kenya serves over 70,000 patients, compared with the WHO’s recommendation of 1:7,000—a massive supply-demand imbalance that fuels patient dissatisfaction and limits growth (The Standard).

In almost every coaching session, dentists tell me three things:

  1. Income growth has stalled.
  2. Staff and processes feel inefficient.
  3. Patient numbers aren’t rising despite effort.

These are business—not clinical—problems. And business problems have fixable solutions. When addressed methodically, clinics can generate consistent income, streamline operations, and attract more patients—without burning out the dentist.
